What are terpenes and why do we use them?
Terpenes are natural, organic compounds produced by certain types of plants and flowers — and even insects! (Don’t worry, we don’t use any of the latter — all of our terpenes come from cannabis). They have a strong, pleasant aroma and plants developed them as a protective force against predators. Of course, cannabinoids like CBD, THC, CBN, etc., are the primary compounds of cannabis that help to relieve pain, inflammation, and other conditions; however, terpenes serve as an added boost to give each strain its own unique profile and additional properties: sleep aid, anxiety relief, focus, energy renewal, and boosted pain relief. So terpenes, depending on the type, can provide a boost of energy, help relax and even help you fall asleep at night which is why we add them to our seltzers!
What terpenes are infused into LIFT?
When our seltzer is brewed (yes, it’s similar to brewing beer!), we use whole hemp flower and add in a special blend of terpenes, including d-limonene. Limonene contains energizing, stress-relieving, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. And just like it sounds, limonene has a refreshing citrusy flavor and scent. Limonene provides the powerful citrus aroma commonly associated with lemons, grapefruits, limes, oranges, and countless other citrus fruits.
Why is our seltzer different?
Because we use whole hemp flower during the brewing process similar to brewing with hops. Using whole flower creates a uniquely refreshing, subtly dank taste with a punch of citrus. Our seltzer is free of: THC and other cannabinoids, alcohol, sugar, calories, carbs, sodium and gluten so they are both adult and kid-friendly!
